Inspiration

Just a few animations i'm watching to get the old creative juices flowing:

African plains, manes and stolen meals from Chris O'Hara on Vimeo.
This is hilarious. I love the exaggerated movement, the really asymmetric shapes and even the colour palette is beautiful to me- not too bright and not too muted. I find it so funny how that lion bends in a really weird place in his chest, and the nice windmilly arms he does when he's frustrated- oh and the mates that pop out of the grass towards the end... teehee!!

No Robots from YungHan Chang on Vimeo.
I thought this one was artistically impressive. it remained to have an illustrative quality without it being too fussy. Although there was no dialogue, it was still easy to follow as the storytelling was done well through all the body language. Amazing camera angles, but the colours used were a little too muted for my liking- but this may have been to try to emphasise the "city, industrial" look.

Natal Plano Z from Plano Z on Vimeo.
I know this is like a little advert, but that thing is so goddamn cute!! sometimes i wish i could do 3-D so i could make weird cute squishy things ^_^

Be a Vegetarian from GLOSSYREY on Vimeo.
i. love. this. the style reminds me children's books and it might be something i want to look further into for the style of the recipe animation i'll be creating. The funny little walks and the bog-eyed broccoli. Definitely having a look at this style again later.
